Alice in Wonderland Frames JSK

It's been a while! I have been busy with finishing off college work, ill health, lack of motivation, and just generally lacking in energy to do sewing. However, among all that wallowing in self-pity, I have been slowly plodding on with this dress with my grandmother - mainly because I set myself a deadline.

I bought the fabric a while ago in London, yet I've only just started using it for an ensemble planned for a Lolita cinema trip meetup, to see Alice and the Looking Glass. I've made an Alice bow - naturally :) - from the same material, to go with the dress. The lace comes from an adorable haberdashery in York that I came across, so this dress contains holiday memories as well as my love for Alice in Wonderland!

The pattern for this came from Otome no Sewing book 2, the "Frames" JSK, which I adapted to fit myself using the slicing method of making a pattern bigger. I traced the pattern pieces to the largest size, working out how I should multiply the measurements to get my size - luckily enough, I only had to separate each strip of pattern piece by a centimeter each time - and put the bodice pieces together by laying them out on the paper and tracing around them to make one bodice piece. I measured the inch for each strip and drew a line upwards with a ruler, and cut the pattern piece into strips. I then cut around the enlarged pattern, adding a centimeter at the bottom of the pattern also.
This is very hard to explain, and I suppose a photograph would do better at explaining it, however I was too excited to take photos at this stage and forgot.

As it was in Japanese I had to do some translating to find out what the miscellaneous, non-obvious pieces were. This made things slightly more difficult, but I battled on. After all, the illustrations in Otome no Sewing were very clear and concise, so I could pretty much guess what the Japanese said when it came to making the thing.

The actual making of the thing was quite straightforward, though in some places we had to improvise where the instructions (or my lack of Japanese) were limited, such as with the shirring in the back and pleating instead of gathering the skirt; I find that pleats look better on me, and I always manage to mess up the gathering somehow anyway in the first go. :)

I'm pleased with the results despite how long it took to piece together.

Valentine's Day Meetup with the Lolitas

I'm not usually a big fan of Valentine's day things because I'm a bitter spinster, but this was a fun little meetup after Valentine's day, so it wasn't bad at all. I actually really enjoyed it, and it's probably the first time this year that I've been out to Manchester!
I was a little late for meeting up at Koffee Pot, but I still managed to get a seat and order my lunch, thanks to the girls. The raspberry ripple milkshakes at Koffee Pot look and taste amazing, though I didn't manage to get any photos of it or of the meetup at all! I was a bit short on time and space, even though everyone looked amazing and cute in their Valentine's day themed, red and white coordinates.
We exchanged Valentine's day message cards anonymously, where I got a very sweet message but I don't know whom it's from! It says that I'm elegant, polite, friendly and sweet, which was so lovely and really made my day. There was also a CLAM quiz that we played in order to win a prize, including questions about famous Lolita YouTubers, Misako Aoki, Mana-sama, Kamikaze Girls, and the group itself; I got eleven out of sixteen, and I fell down on the question about the "yen trick" for Bodyline, which I had no idea even existed! Now I know...

After that we had a brief walk in Manchester's Northern quarters to get to another cafe where we just hanged out, called Cafe Nexus. There we played another game, where we wrote down random words, put them into a pile, and drew three cards to make a new print name for a brand to release. I laughed so hard, as on my first draw I got "anxious lemon tea-time" - the image that popped into my head was just too funny! Maybe the lemon is afraid of being used in somebody's tea? Who knows? It's on the top of my list for some brand to release - Metamorphose temps de fille, probably would be the best bet, haha.

We also had a photographer with us, who came all the way from London to photograph us for a magazine article! It was strangely enjoyable being photographed - usually I'm not a photogenic person and hate having my photo taken - maybe because I didn't have to smile? Fingers crossed that we get into the magazine! I may post the photos to my blog if I get permission from the photographer.

For this meet I didn't have anything remotely Valentine's day themed, so I just wore a Sweet Lolita coordinate that my partner from the EGL Dress-Me-Up challenge put together for me, which was a lot of fun wearing all together.

Headbow: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Blouse: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
JSK: Lovely Sweet Room - Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Bag: Angelic Pretty
Socks: Secret Shop
Shoes: Hush Puppies

After all, although it was a little uneventful and quiet because of the process of photography, it was a very fun meetup and it was nice to see everybody and just hang out. There were some new members to the comm too, which I thought was really nice.
I had a great time, except for the parts where I nearly broke my ankles wearing those heels on the blasted uneven ground in Manchester - if it weren't for a nearby pole and Mo, I would probably have humiliated myself by face-planting the ground in full Lolita fashion, haha! Petticoats and bloomers would have been displayed for everyone to see! Just imagining it makes me laugh. Thankfully some divine force stopped me from making a spectacle of myself. :)

Lolita Videos

I found these really cute Lolita videos! After a re-watch of the wonderful Kamikaze Girls (and the realisation of how cute Ichigo is), I felt very affectionate towards the clothes of Baby, the Stars Shine Bright! Now I really want to go back to the Paris store.

Today's Co-ordinate, Shirring Princess!

Blouse: Dorothy Perkins
JSK: Shirring Princess, Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Headbow: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Socks: Sock it to me

I wear this dress a lot recently, as well as my Wonder Cookie JSK! It's such a cute, typically BABY dress! I thought that the white on my blouse goes very well with the white on my headbow, and the small bits of white on the socks. The socks have really cute cats with mustaches on, so how could I resist them in Boston!

The Adventures of Princess Cake-bum

Otherwise known as... the Lolita makeover of my 11 year-old sister, Abi! She seemed reluctant at first, but as I hardly see her anymore, I decided to just drag her through it. Doesn't she make a wonderful Lolita!

First of all I did her makeup (not very successfully, as I'm so clumsy, I must admit *laughs*) and then chose her outfit. Really, I think she should wear this style all the time; I may be biased, but I think she really suits it and looks so cute in it! Also, she's excellent at posing and is very photogenic!

Headbow: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Blouse: Bodyline
JSK: Whipped Showcase - Angelic Pretty
Socks: Secret Shop
Shoes: Abi's own shoes (she has much bigger feet than I do!)

As she was being all moan-y about being dressed up, I said to her:
"You may not be the cleanest fairy in the forest, but you'll make it!"
Mainly I said it to joke about her lack of hygiene, but she has a good sense of humour. It soon became her catchphrase of the day, and so she'd say it to literally anyone!

Some closeups:

And then Batman joined us!

I had a really fun time dressing her up and generally being very pushy, pretending to be a flamboyant fashion photographer. In actuality, this was all a part of my evil plan to gain a fellow Lolita to hang around with! I don't think Abi's so keen, though, ahahaha.

She's one of my best friends and will soon start the same high school as me, in September. She's a first year and I'm in my final year! ;w; It must be exciting for her, because Year 7 was one of the best years of my life (and when I first discovered Lolita, too!). I'm looking forward to going to school with her.

So I wore Lolita Yesterday...

And it went really well! Here's my co-ord:

Headdress: Handmade with rose fabric
Blouse: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
JSK: Shirring Princess - Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Socks: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Shoes: Red or Dead
Seemingly I haven't worn it much lately, as I've fallen into the habit of just slinging on a pair of jeans and a T-Shirt. Yet you can see here, shirring is magical for plus-sized lolitas! And you probably can't tell, but I'm wearing two off-brand petticoats.
I went to Liverpool for the afternoon and had tea in a café and looked in vintage shops, whilst my brother was buying HarleyQuin merchandise. My sister said that when we were walking past this bus, a little girl said to her mother "look, mummy, a princess!"! Wow, it feels nice to get compliments like that! *blushing*

Wonder Cookie Lolita Co-ord

Sunday

Blouse: Bodyline
JSK: Dream of Lolita - Wonder Cookie
Socks: Secret Shop
Glasses: Claire's Accessories

Today I'm going to try my best to write a lot of Margaret's School, and then maybe later I'll colour some more of my latest picture; it's for Aika's birthday on the 26th May! With the exams from school finally over, I'm hoping that they'll go easy on us with the homework situation... So maybe I'll finish the picture before the 26th.
My Nana and I have been playing tennis in the garden as it's a really beautiful day. Between the two of us, we're really rubbish at playing tennis, and Cleo kept on running after the ball and hiding it in the bushes where we can't get to it! It was really fun.

Another Lolita Co-ordinate

Saturday

Blouse: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
JSK: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright - Shirring Princess
Socks: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Head bow: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright

Usually I don't wear so much Lolita clothes, because a) Indy's and Cleo's paws are almost always muddy, and b) I still need to lose a little more weight for my other JSKs. I used to wear Lolita every weekend when I went to school full-time to have a break from my really unattractive, bottle green uniform, and now I'm well enough to go to school full time again, I'm getting back into that tradition. Also, when I feel ill I don't really want to wear Lolita in case I get it dirty fainting or having a seizure, but now there's no risk of that at the moment, I want to make the most of it!
I'm wearing a lot of BtSSB today! It must be my favourite Lolita brand by far... Also, I took some quick photos of details in my Lovely Sweet Room JSK for inspiration of my next artwork. I just love all the details in BtSSB dresses, and the poodles are so adorable! I wonder if someday there will be a print with cocker spaniels on? It would be at the top of my dream dress list, if so!

Shirring Princess - Today's Lolita Co-ordinate!

Saturday

Blouse: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
JSK: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright - Shirring Princess
Socks: Secret Shop
Necklace and earrings: Disney

I just adore this JSK! It's simple, really versatile, and has beautiful details in the back with a bustle-like effect. I think it has to be my favourite Lolita dress by far!
I wore this outfit for about 20 minutes before I had to get changed into old clothes, as I remembered that I had a lot of art homework to do for upcoming exams!

Saturday
Blouse: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
JSK: Dream of Lolita - Wonder Cookie
Socks: Secret Shop
Head bow: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Parasol: off-brand

It was surprisingly warm and mild today with really sunny weather! I wore my hair natural and had no makeup because it takes too long and I wanted to draw.

Lolita In Disneyland Paris

This picture is done for my Mum's birthday as she loves Disney so much. I had a lot of fun drawing and colouring this, so I hope my mum will really like it! <3 Hopefully the girl looks like Minnie Mouse, because that's what I was going for. My dad took the photo in the background.:)

It took a while to get it exactly how I wanted, but I'm really pleased with the end result! Now to hide it from Mum until the 12th!

Spring Flowers~ My art

Recently my dad bought me a license for Paintool SAI, and it's AMAZING!! So easy to use and it has lots of tutorials on the web!
Anyway, here's what I made with it. =^.^=

 And a close up!

I'm actually quite pleased with it, especially the bunny! :D

Rock Around the Clock~ Some 50s Coords

Follow me on Polyvore! :D I post lolita, fairy-kei, pastel-goth and other random coordinates!

Fairy Kei Hair Slides and Pastel Goth Bracelet

Ahh sorry for the bad photos. It seems whenever I want to take photos it just so happens to be dark outside!

Anyway, I've been Decoden-ing again! I made some fairy kei-inspired hair slides (and they match my iPhone case too!)  and a Pastel-goth bracelet. I got the cross pendant and the tiny pink transparent beads from Afflecks in Manchester with Jasmine. :3

Decoden iPhone Case

Recently, my Dad gave me his old iPhone as his contract ran out! So I made this Decoden iPhone case with stuff ordered off eBay.

It's not the best Decoden ever made (I need so much practice!) but I still like it :)
I think I'll make another one, but with the whipped cream and Eiffel Tower stuff I also got...

Pullip Purikura

Hi :) Happy new year!

Recently I downloaded a new app on my sister's iPod touch, called Girls Camera.

It's so fun!

P.S. In the bottom picture is Aika's new outfit that I got for Christmas!

Pullip Doll Tiphona

Yesterday my first Pullip doll, Tiphona, arrived from America!

She's just so beautiful! I would recommend Tiphona to any doll lover, as her hair is so soft and her face up so gentle.
She's wearing clothes and accessories designed by Japanese lolita brand, Innocent World. The clothes are of immaculate quality with so much detail! If I had enough money, I would buy the human-sized version, even though I'm more of a sweet and gothic lolita rather than classic. The doll came with tiny shoes, a gorgeous headband and a really cute headband.

Her eyes can change direction rather than colour. The colour of her eyes look really natural.

I'm calling her Aika Takanaga after my favourite OC.
They look kind of alike, I suppose! :)
Aika (on the right)

Aika is from the 50s, and she loves drawing comics and singing. She is half Japanese, half French, but lives with her rich and famous father and two elder brothers in Maine.
Her star sign is Gemini and she was born on the 26th May, 1945 (13-14 years old).
She is quiet, bubbly, friendly, fashionable and artistic. Aika likes spending time with her friend, Cherry Misaki.
