Art Exhibition and Prom

Here are some of my artworks that I have done in class for the past two years. I've also taken some photos of Wendy's art because I know she won't mind, and it's simply fabulous!

These last three photos are Wendy's work, not mine. My themes were Cells, Distorted Portraits and Fantastic and Strange, and hers were the first two listed, plus Food.

I've actually got a funny story about this art exhibition for Year 11; the head teacher told me straight after an exam that there was an event on Thursday, but I was tired and heard Tuesday instead. That meant that my entire family was dragged to my school on the wrong day, though thankfully a caretaker let us in anyway and we got a preview of the exhibition. Embarrassingly enough, the head teacher walked into the library at that point and started having conversations with my grandparents. I apologised for getting the wrong day, and he was very nice about it and told us to take our time!

And the prom! I've written a lot about the prom (which I actually enjoyed despite hating parties) but I won't bore you with it here. I wore my Innocent World dress, Angelic Pretty bag, pink shoes, and a neutral-pink ballerina cardigan that my mum bought me! The thing I enjoyed most was seeing what everyone wore, as every girl and boy I saw were dressed so glamorously and to their personalities! Here are some pictures.

I'm such a nincompoop in this photo, and I have no idea what I'm laughing at, but I still like it, haha.

Here I've realised that I was holding my invitation upside-down, so that's why we're both laughing!

Me and my friends, as my dad took from inside the building... Funny, because I never even noticed.

Princess Violetta - Art Trade with AmazingNicky

This is for my friend :iconamazingnicky: as we are doing an art trade! I really enjoyed drawing this girl (and I've secretly nicknamed her Princess Violetta due to the amount of purple in this picture)!

Today was so funny!

This evening my town was having a summer fair and at it, there was this dog beauty competition. I entered my baby Indy and even gave him a bath before it! (which was a disaster!) He shook himself all over me AND went and sat on my bed afterwards. Thanks, Indy. I really love you for that.

Well, anyway, at the dog show they had to walk around the arena I think about 50 times XD and Indy started drooling really heavily because of the heat! So that was slightly embarrassing, and not only that, but the judge (who had a microphone) was talking to my sister and she told everyone that my dog likes to eat socks. My two year-old brother was so hyper that he started yelling into the microphone that the judge should keep his socks inside the draw or Indy will eat them. THEN started running round the arena over and over about 30 times and doing somersaults whenever he passed the judge! There's something wrong with him, I swear!

We didn't win anything and I'm really not surprised, but I don't really care. I still think Indy's the prettiest dog I've ever seen!

Glam! Exhibition

Nan Goldin's 'Kenny Putting on Makeup'
Recently I went to the Tate Gallery at the Albert Docks. My friend, Jasmine and I go every month to an art club there. It's really fun as you get to be with people who love art, and explore the current exhibitions in the gallery.

One of my favorite exhibitions was the Glam! The Performance of Style exhibition. I really liked this one particularly because I'm interested in vintage/retro eras, especially the 50s, 70s and 80s! Also the whole concepts of glamour, individuality, camp and androgyny fascinates me.

I love people that are unique, bold and not afraid to experiment with fashion - so really the 70s would be the era to live for me!

I've been around the exhibition about twice, and I think I could still go again and again.

My favourite part of the gallery is the room with the glitter disco balls, retro music (David Bowie?) and strobe lights. It's very atmospheric! I also really like the photo by Nan Goldin to the right.

In the club that Jasmine and I go to, we get to talk about the art, and do some work inspired by bits and pieces of the gallery. This time we made masks and apron-clothes!

I made a collage of the stuff we did on Photoshop. Sorry for my bad photos (I used my iPhone). Also if anyone is featured in my photos and does not want to be on my website, I'll take it down. :)
