By Jeeves!

Gosh, I just adore this musical so much. It combines some of my loves together; Jeeves & Wooster, musicals, comedy, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. I watched it long ago but haven't found time to post a review. Can I just say that Jeeves is turning into an obsession. I've watched the entire TV series more than once (and each episode is an hour long), read three omnibuses, watched the musical, downloaded the soundtrack, and stalked the internet for fanfics and fan art.

First of all, the musical captured the characters amazingly. I just ADORE Bertie Wooster! And Jeeves too! Even when singing, you can see that they're staying in character so well, and this is particularly impressive seeing as there was an audience there at the time. Even the minor characters were fantastic. I was particularly fascinated with Madeline Basset's actress, who was perhaps the best Madeline Basset I have ever seen; even her voice was perfect. Also, Honoria Glossop's actress was great. Their appearances were very close with those of the actors in the TV series, and their voices too.

The wonderful Madeline Bassett

Secondly, the fact that Bertie was a famous banjo player was hilarious, especially as in the book, Jeeves had handed in his notice because of his master's terrible banjo playing. He was called Banjo Boy, which I found rather sweet.

The songs were lovely, and very moving in places, especially the duet between Stiffy and Pinker Stinker. My favourite song, however, was sung by Honoria Glossop, called "That Was Nearly Us". It really showed her personality, and almost made me feel a little sorry for her, that she couldn't be with Bertie. The parts where she became especially dramatic (in her very fruity voice, I must add) and ended up with her breasts and... other parts... shoved almost in Bertie's face because of the way the camera zoomed in on her, was hilarious. He looked so frightened as it happened!

As for my favourite part, I thought it was really funny when Bertie had to climb through a window disguised as a pig, and ended up in Honoria's room by mistake, and she thought he was an actual pig... Just in case you were wondering, this part is meant to be overly silly, and yet it struck me as really strange yet funny.
Why Honoria? Why?
Oh yeah, and there was an ending with everyone dressed as the characters from the Wizard of Oz.

Midori (ミドリ)

Recently I've got some new Midori (ミドリ) on my iPhone, and it made me realise how much I love this band! Before I only had about two albums, plus some videos I've seen on YouTube, but I've downloaded the albums; First, Second, Swing, some demos, and their live album; so I wanted to make a post about them.
Midori is described as a Jazz-Punk fusion band, with Mariko Goto as the main vocalist. The combination of both jazz and punk is unusual but really appealing in my opinion, as I love all kinds of music with jazz elements! Goto sounds sweet and innocent at times, and quickly changes to becoming angry and passionate with her vocals, along with the music to match the "mood" of the song.
I suppose they could be described somewhat like the Sex Pistols with a jazz element, but almost twice as lively! Some songs are gentle, some are crazy, but mainly I enjoy all of them.
For some reason, their sound reminds me very much of summer and nautical things, like sailor suits and the ocean... Summer because I really got into them two summers ago, and perhaps sailor suits because that always seems to be Mariko Goto's outfit when she is performing.

Dreamboats and Petticoats

Today I went to HMV because there was a sale, and I got 4 CDs for £10, and they are called 'Dreamboats and Petticoats'. The songs are a collection of songs that were popular in the 1950s, so I thought they were cheap, so why not give them a go! I'M IN LOVE, GUYS!!  Songs from the 50s are the cutest things ever!
Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Neil Sedaka, Marty Wilde and The Ronettes are my favourites. uwu//
I've got collection 4 and the 'Summer Holidays' ones.

Okay, I'm in love with Buddy Holly. He's so cute and beautiful! But he's dead... *cries* I told my mum I'm getting married to him (lol) and she said when she was my age, she started a Buddy Holly Fanclub. I said, 'What was it like?'... and she said it was on her own in her bedroom!! Well I'm joining this club anyway! Is it uncool to join a club ran by your mum?

Gothic Lolita Music

For many people music plays an important part in their lives. I'm not really that musical, but I'm going to post some bands and singers that really inspire me.
Malice Mizer

I have to admit, Malice Mizer was basically what got me interested in Japan and lolita fashion in general. I've loved them since I was 11 and I still do years later! The first PV I ever watched was Beast of Blood and now I'm hooked. They are super inspiring for me as they show the beauty in darkness and gothic themes perfectly. Also I love their French twist on things. I can honestly say I like all the eras (Tetsu, Gackt and Klaha) equally. They always make me feel better in rough times and their music is very calming and almost magical in theme!

ALI PROJECT

First of all, I love almost every song Ali Project produces! I really like Arika's aristocratic and mysterious feel. Her voice is beautiful, and whenever she's featured in Gothic Lolita Bibles she looks amazingly different in every single shoot! My favorite song at the moment is MEGALOPOLIS ALICE, and I love the lyrics to Narcissus Noir. She actually inspires me for some of my OCs and drawings.
